Sheppard weighs in light, but retains point lead

DRUMMONDVILLE, QUEBEC – July 21, 2015 – DIRTcar NE Director of Series and Sanctioning Mike Perrotte confirmed that driver Matt Sheppard received half of the points and money he had apparently earned with his second-place finish in Monday’s Super DIRTcar Series 100 at Autodrome Drummond after weighing in five pounds light during post-race inspection.

Perrotte cited the DIRTcar rule book which states, “If the weight violation occurs after the feature race and is 10 lbs or less, the competitor may receive one half of his potential purse money and one half of the earned points for that feature event”.

Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, N.Y. and defending Series champion Billy Decker of Unadilla, N.Y. are currently tied (704) for 1st-place in the Big-Block Modified Series point standings.

Friesen snatches win from Ward at Five Mile Point

Earns $6,000 and 1st 2015 Super DIRTcar Series victory with final turn pass

KIRKWOOD, N.Y. – July 15, 2015 – Stewart Friesen of Sprakers, N.Y. slipped under Pat Ward exiting the fourth turn on the final lap to win the Super DIRTcar Series “Greatest Drivers 65” by half a car-length at Five Mile Point Speedway Wednesday.

Friesen had stalked Ward, who was looking for his first Big-Block Modified Series points-race win since 2005, from the halfway mark. He twice managed to lead a lap by inches before Ward seemed to have pulled ahead enough to secure the win with his high-side line.

Decker denies Fuller, wins Mohawk 100

3rd Super DIRTcar Series win for defending champion

Hogansburg, N.Y. – July 9, 2015 – Billy Decker drove to his third Super DIRTcar Series win of the season in the Gypsum Wholesalers No.91 Thursday at Mohawk International Raceway despite a late race rally by Tim Fuller.

Decker started 7th in a 30-car field in the Gypsum Wholesalers No. 91 and took the lead on a lap-79 restart after a 30-lap duel with Billy Dunn. He opened up a four car-length lead while Fuller kept advancing (13th at halfway) and moved into second just before a final caution with nine laps left.
