Decker, Sheppard logjam with Autodrome Drummond ahead

Back-to-back Super DIRTcar Series events at Drummond, Granby

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC – July 17, 2015 – The Super DIRTcar Series swings into action on back-to-back nights in the province of Quebec Monday, July 20 and Tuesday July 21 at Autodrome Drummond and Autodrome Granby with a deadlock atop the championship point standings.

Matt Sheppard of Waterloo, N.Y. and defending Series champion Billy Decker of Unadilla, N.Y. are currently tied (704) for 1st-place in the Big-Block Modified Series point standings.

Danny Johnson of Rochester, N.Y. (669) and Sheppard’s teammate Jimmy Phelps of Baldwinsville, N.Y. (662) are in close pursuit.

Sheppard and Decker have three wins apiece over the first nine starts, but both endured a rare finish outside the top ten in the recent race at Five Mile Point Speedway, which was won with a final turn pass by Stewart Friesen.

Sheppard has four Super DIRTcar Series career wins on the Drummond 3/8-mile. He posted back-to-back wins in 2011-12. Decker’s lone Drummond win came in 2003.

Brett Hearn, 5th in points is the all-time Super DIRTcar Series win leader at Autodrome Drummond (7). Hearn has yet to land a podium finish in a 2015 Series event. He ran strong in the second half of the Five Mile Point race and rallied to finish 6th after getting turned around in the early going. Hearn finished second behind Erick Rudolph at Drummond in 2014.

Both the Autodrome Drummond event and the Autodrome Granby race are 100 laps with a purse exceeding $30,000 that will pay $6,000-to-win.

Post time both nights is 7:30 p.m.
