Sheppard receives coveted trophy for record third consecutive season

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. – Nov. 10, 2012 – Mr. DIRTcar and DIRTcar Northeast Series champions and stars gathered Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Holiday Inn Liverpool to celebrate another successful season.

Matt Sheppard, of Waterloo, N.Y., made 2012 a year for the record books, becoming the first driver to claim three consecutive Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Super DIRTcar Series Championship titles.

“This is where it’s tough for me,” said Sheppard, as the fact hit home that he had rewritten racing history with his third championship title. “I’m still a fan, I’ve always been a fan. I still picture myself as a 15-year-old rooting on Alan Johnson, and Danny Johnson, and here I am now.”

“There are a hundred different pieces that go together,” Sheppard continued, “and if one of those one hundred pieces isn’t there, I wouldn’t be standing here today, and I definitely wouldn’t standing here three years in a row.”

CONCORD, N. C. – Nov. 5, 2012 – Two-time consecutive Super DIRTcar Series Champion Matt Sheppard made it to the top again this year, becoming the first Big-Block Modified driver to score three series championship titles in a row.

Hearn Caps off Stunning Season with PEAK Motor Oil World Finals Victory
Matt Sheppard clinches third consecutive Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified championship

DSC 6977 copyCONCORD, N.C. – Nov. 4, 2012 – Brett Hearn’s performance late in the 2012 Super DIRTcar Series season has been anything but anticlimactic. He capped off a stunning season Saturday, Nov. 3, with a victory in the series finale during PEAK Motor Oils World of Outlaws World Finals presented by NAPA Auto Parts at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Hearn’s season went from good to great in August after returning from an illness-related two-race hiatus to start 23rd in the field and charge to the win at Lebanon Valley Speedway for Mr. DIRT Track U. S. A. From then on it kept improving, with his sixth VP Small Engine Fuels victory at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, a win in Orange County Fair Speedway’s Eastern States 200, and this most recent victory takes Hearn’s great season to another level.

“We worked hard to get here,” said Hearn, of Sussex, N. J. “I’ve wanted to win this race for quite a while, for the last few years we’ve been coming here.” (Hearn by Jason Shank; Sheppard by Travis Branch)
