Matt Sheppard readies for showdown at Autodrome Granby

Super DIRTcar Series, DIRTcar Pro Stock Series and DIRTcar 358-Modified Series make for action-packed weekend in Quebec

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – August 27, 2014 – With a mere three-point lead, Super DIRTcar Series driver Matt Sheppard has his work cut out for him as he charges into September.

The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series heads to Autodrome Granby in Granby, Quebec, for a 100-lap feature Saturday, Sept. 6. Sheppard, the three-time series champion out of Waterloo, N.Y.,sits at the top of the point standings with Billy Decker, of Sidney, N.Y., just three points behind.

“We’ve had to overcome a lot of adversity to maintain the point lead,” said Sheppard, who most recently finished 23rd in Lebanon Valley Speedway’s ‘Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A.’ when mechanical issues forced him out of the race. “We just have to quit having problems, quit having bad luck, quit going to the back of the feel and trying to work our way back through.”

“The Jet” claims impressive $17,500 ‘Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A’ prize

WEST LEBANON, N.Y. – August 14, 2014 – Better late than never. One of the winningest drivers to ever sit behind the wheel of a Big Block Modified had gone through more than half the race season without a Super DIRTcar Series victory, until Thursday.

Brett Hearn steered to victory Thursday, Aug. 14, at Lebanon Valley Speedway, claiming his first series win of the season.

“I just did what I do on Saturday nights,” said the Sussex, N.J., driver, whose winless series transcript was still impressive, with four top-five finishes and eight top-tens out of ten starts. “I have a couple spots on the track where I like to make passes and I was able to do that. When time came to step it up at the end there to get the last two spots, I was able to do that.”

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. — August 8, 2014 — It had been four long years since the mighty Big Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series had set wheel to the historic three-eighths-mile oval at Weedsport Speedway, and drivers and fans alike were ready to make history Thursday night at the hallowed track.

In the return of the ‘Hall of Fame 100’ to the Weedsport site, fans packed in the newly rebuilt grandstands watched as Billy Decker, of Sidney, N.Y., powered past series point leader Matt Sheppard, of Waterloo, N.Y., to pick up his sixth career Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series victory at Weedsport Speedway.

‘Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A’ brings Super DIRTcar Series to Lebanon Valley

Local runner and series regular Keith Flach hopes to fare well in one of the season’s most competitive fields of racers

WEST LEBANON, N.Y. – August, 7, 2014 – Lebanon Valley Speedway’s classic ‘Mr. DIRT Track U.S.A.’ is just around the corner, and Super DIRTcar Series racers are preparing for the always action-packed battle on the high banks. The Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series returns to half-mile Thursday, Aug. 14, for the $17,500-to-win show.

Local racer and series regular Keith Flach, of Ravena, N.Y., is looking forward to taking on other Super DIRTcar Series greats on his home turf, and says this race is bound to be a challenge for outsiders.

“It’s different. It’s unique. It’s one of the faster tracks we run,” said Flach, who is currently fifth in Big Block Modified track points at Lebanon Valley. “It’s fun when we do it, but it’s tough on equipment, tough on drivers.”

Billy Decker outduels Danny Johnson for Ransomville’s Super DIRTcar Series feature win

RANSOMVILLE, N.Y. – August 6, 2014 – After a thrilling 100 laps on the Ransomville Speedway half-mile Tuesday night, Billy Decker, of Sidney, N.Y., wheeled his way to Victory Lane to claim his second 2014 Super DIRTcar Series win.

In the Gypsum Wholesalers No. 91, Decker held the lead from green to checkered flags in the Alex Friesen Summer Nationals presented by Coors Light and Randy’s Smoke Shop feature race Tuesday, Aug. 5, keeping a stout field of competitors off his tail.

“The Gypsum Wholesaler car was spot-on from the time we rolled out tonight,” said Decker, who took the Pole Position Raceway Fast Qualifier Award and won his heat race. “It really made my job pretty easy. These guys did a tremendous job preparing the car.”

Challenges from local runners Brachmann and Bowman don’t slow Johnson’s charge to victory lane

THOROLD, ONTARIO – August 5, 2014 – “The Doctor” Danny Johnson is on a roll, picking up his second consecutive Super DIRTcar Big Block Modified Series win.

The Rochester, N.Y., Modified driver rocketed to victory in Merrittville Speedway’s annual 100-lap Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial, fending off challenges from strong local runners to pick up a thrilling win Monday, Aug. 4.

“It feels awewome,” said Johnson, who is fresh off an impressive victory at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Brett Hearn’s ‘The Big Show 6′ presented by Recovery Sports Grill, Ferris and VP Race Fuels. “I just tried staying focused and got good laps.”
