Rain Shuffles The Deck In Super DIRT Week Spectacular

SDW_2009_NEW_WEB

Syracuse, NYOctober 9, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

Intermittent rain throughout the afternoon and extremely wet track conditions on Friday forced officials to cancel the program scheduled for day four of Super DIRT Week XXXVIII at the New York State Fairgrounds.

A revised schedule includes complete cancellation of the Big-Block Modified Triple 20s and 358-Modified Twin 20s qualifying heats headlining Friday’s card, with the DIRTcar Big-Block ‘Futures’ event moved to Sunday morning and the DIRTcar Pro Stock ‘Futures’ program slated for Saturday afternoon.

In lieu of no heat races being run on Friday, there will be a Dig Safely New York 358-Mod Last Chance Qualifier added to the Saturday program while the DIRTcar Big-Block ‘Futures’ event will kick off the racing activity on Super Sunday.

The front of the fields have now been set with the Top-37 time trailers for the ‘Rite Aid 200 Presented By Ferris & Snapper Mowers’ and Top-30 qualifiers in the ‘Salute to The Troops 150’ 358-Modified Championship locked in to their respective main events. Four guaranteed starters in the Big-Block ranks and seven in 358 competition are added in next to help fill the starting grid prior to the consolation round, with five more drivers moving on to the title events in each division.

Big-Block fast timers Tim Fuller and Dale Planck own the front row starting positions as do Brett Hearn and Billy Decker in Saturday’s Small-Block finale.

A final spot in the Rite Aid 200 field will come from the 4th Annual “Win And You’re In” Big-Block/Small-Block Super Shootout on Saturday at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park giving the 25-lap feature winner an automatic 47th-place starting assignment in this year’s marquee event.

Also scratched from the weekend agenda is the World of Outlaws Sprint Car ‘King of the Mile’ exhibition dash outlined on Friday afternoon as the top wingmen prepare for the New Yorker 25 on Saturday evening across town at Rolling Wheels.
