This Week Ahead: Super DIRTcar Series Gears Up For Brewerton and Weedsport

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – Sept. 12, 2016 – This Friday night Sept. 16th the Super DIRTcar Series will be making their first visit of the season to Brewerton Speedway. Last year it was Billy decker who won the McDonald’s 100 over Brett Hearn, Danny Johnson, Matt Sheppard and Vic Coffey. Decker swapped the lead three times with Hearn before taking the lead for keeps on lap 76 with a hammer down move in the fourth turn that brought him close to the retaining wall. He withstood three late restarts and a green-white-checkered finish to record his fifth series win of the season.
The series will be making their third visit to Weedsport Speedway this Saturday, Sept. 17th. Their last visit to the track was on Monday, Sept. 5th as everyone witnessed Sheppard capture his eighth Super DIRTcar Series victory of the season over Danny Johnson, Tim Fuller, Alan Johnson and Erick Rudolph to take home the $7,500 payday.
With 19 Super DIRTcar races in the books lets take a look at the stats for the current top five drivers in the points chase:
1. Sheppard has 9 wins, 15 top five finishes, 16 top 10 finishes in 19 starts.
2. Stewart Friesen has 4 wins, 14 top five finishes, 16 top 10 finishes in 19 starts.
3. Tim Fuller has 2 wins, 9 top five finishes, 15 top 10 finishes in 19 starts.
4. Billy Decker has 1 win, 7 top five finishes, 14 top 10 finishes in 19 starts.
5. Brett Hearn has 0 wins, 5 top five finishes, 13 top 10 finishes in 19 starts.
Last year the Super DIRTcar Series saw a slight difference in the top five at the end of the 2015 season:
- Matt Sheppard had 4 wins, 15 top five finishes, 23 top 10 finishes in 24 starts.
- Billy Decker had 5 wins, 10 top five finishes, 16 top 10 finishes in 24 starts.
- Jimmy Phelps had 1 win, 9 top five finishes, 16 top 10 finishes in 24 starts.
- Larry Wight had 1 win, 9 top five finishes, 12 top 10 finishes in 24 starts.
- Brett Hearn had 2 wins, 12 top five finishes, 18 top 10 finishes in 24 starts
