Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 5 to Feature DIRTcar Pro Stock Series
Popular Event Promoted by Modified Star Upgrades its Pro Stock Race to Tour Event
MALTA, N. Y. – April 11, 2013 – An upgrade to the DIRTcar Pro Stock division in Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 5 presented by Recovery Sports Grill is set to bring some of the biggest stars of the full-fender division to Albany-Saratoga Speedway. With the help of additional sponsor backing, the Tuesday, July 9, event, promoted by Modified star Brett Hearn, will play host to the traveling tour, the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series.
“Those guys run door-to-door. It’s just fantastic full-fender racing,” Brett Hearn said of the Pro Stock division. “They put on a great race at Malta. It’s just a perfect-sized track for these cars. It’s very entertaining, very good racing.”
For its first stop of the season in the United States, the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series joins the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series for Hearn’s popular event. Especially popular in Canada, the Pro Stock Series will have run at Cornwall Motor Speedway Sunday, June 2, Autodrome Granby Friday, June 21, and Le RPM Speedway Saturday, June 22, before stopping at the Malta track. The series attracts talented competitors from both sides of the border, such as Jocelyn Roy, Stephane Lebrun, and Albany-Saratoga local Rob Yetman.
“This being upgraded to a full-fledged series race should really enhance the event,” Hearn said. “We’re going to see drivers from all over the place rather than just the local scene. Some of the best guys come in.”
Additional sponsor funding from Snap On, Lazzaro Auto Body, Bilstein Shocks/Fastline Performance, JACR Chassis, and Quality Lawn Care and Fuel Goods made it possible for Brett Hearn’s The Big Show 5 presented by Recovery Sports Grill to upgrade its Pro Stock race to a series event. Hearn said this show of sponsor enthusiasm indicates another great year for the event.
“We’re going to work to continue to enhance the event and make it bigger and bigger as we approach July,” Hearn said.
The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series continues after the Malta race with features Saturday, Sept. 7, at Autodrome Drummond and Friday, Sept. 13, at Mohawk International Raceway. In October, the best of the full-fender division take on the “Moody Mile” for the 50-lap championship Sunday, Oct. 13, during NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
