Weedsport, NYJanuary 14, 2010 — By Tom Skibinski, Super DIRTcar Series PR Director

After 11 straight appearances at Grandview Speedway, the Super DIRTcar Series returns to the popular Pennsylvania oval on Tue., June 15 for the 12th running of the TRAFFIC JAM 100.

“We’re really excited to get the show back on our calendar,” commented Bob Miller, who promoted the event from 1998 thru 2008 before a scheduling conflict forced officials to drop the annual Big-Block Modified tour stop. “The timing is definitely better this year and we’re already looking forward to the series return.”

“We have a specific number of unique shows that need to be spaced out in order to work, to keep the interest high among both fans and racers. The Big-Block event has been moved up this year and that fits in very well with the current format,” said Miller, who has inked a half-dozen more specials featuring just as many headline divisions at the racy high-banked third-miler.

The 15th appearance of DIRTcar Northeast’s premier Big-Block traveling tour to Bruce and Theresa Rogers’ storied speedplant in Bechtelsville, Pa. is followed by ‘Big Show II’ promoted by Brett Hearn at Orange County Fair Speedway on June 16, creating the first of four doubleheaders in the 2010 Super DIRTcar Series.

“Historically, previous shows have been held at Grandview on Tuesday,” noted Miller, who spearheaded the DIRTcar Southeast Modified Series in 2004 that included visits to Grandview as well as Big Diamond (Pa.) Raceway, Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway, Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway and Delaware Int’l Speedway. “100 laps is always exciting as it seems to be a perfect size track and the tour guys put on very professional show.”

“It was nice to hear from drivers last season asking when the next series show at Grandview would be. Now I can give them a real answer and its part of a great week to kick off summer. We’re ready to work right alongside Brett to help make both events the biggest and best possible,” Miller added.

Always highlighted by great competition between the invading series stars and local favorites, the DIRTcar contingent has led the way with defending overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Champion Hearn the only three-time (1998, 2002 & ’07) winner on the hill. Billy Decker, who won the last series stop at Grandview in 2008, joins Danny Johnson and Tim McCreadie with two victories apiece while New York notables Alan Johnson and Tim Fuller, seasoned Pennsylvanian pilots Frank Cozze and Kenny Brightbill, and New Jersey jockies Jimmy Horton and inaugural winner Billy Pauch complete the legendary list.

“Grandview is an important event as we look to expand the series further south in our region,” affirmed Joe Skotnicki, DIRTcar Racing Northeast Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning. “We hope to finalize more events in the coming weeks and Pennsylvania remains a solid starting point.”

While Grandview opened for the first time in 1963 and has enjoyed Modified-Sportsman racing ever since, Miller’s Thunder on the Hill Racing Series was born in August of 1990. At that time Miller joined forces with track owners to present a special mid-week racing series, which is now ready to launch it’s 21st consecutive season. While debuting at Grandview in 1989, the Super DIRTcar Modified Series joined Thunder on the Hill in 1998 with Hearn copping the first presentation of the 100 Lap TRAFFIC JAM.
