Super DIRTcar Series Doubleheader Makes For Racer’s Holiday For Fans and Drivers

Merrittville and Ransomville 100 lap events one week away

July 25, 2016 THOROLD, ONTARIO/RANSOMVILLE, NY – If there are two races that should be on everyone’s racing calendars it’s the first Monday and Tuesday in August at Merrittville and Ransomville Speedways with both DIRTcar facilities hosting the Big Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series – Monday August 1 st and Tuesday August 2nd.

“For race fans and race teams alike … the doubleheader is a great chance to take in all the attractions that Southern Ontario and Western New York have to offer while enjoying the excitement at the tracks each night,” said (Merrittville Speedway GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones.

 

“Ransomville’s new owners – the Atwal Family are thrilled to host such a time honored tradition and make it their own, added (Ransomville Speedway GM) Tana Robinson, “both tracks are so close … it’s was always the thing to do every year and catch some of the best drivers in action each night.”

Since 1972, when both Merrittville and Ransomville Speedways were owned by the Friesen and Uhl families, Merrittville has hosted the event that for the 7 th Season honors the memory of Bob St. Amand Senior – a former racer and Pit Steward at both facilities.

The Civic Holiday Special at Thorold, Ontario’s Merrittville on August 1st will have the Pinty’s Delicious Foods 358 Modifieds face off against the Big Blocks of the Super DIRTcar Series.in the 100 lap Main Event.

St. Catharines’ own Mat Williamson is the defending race winner.

Also joining in on the special Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Event will be the Yager Bros Trucking Sportsman, Hoosier Stocks and the Van Raine Construction 4 Cylinders.

The next night – Tuesday August 2nd, the Krown Undercoating of Ransomville 358 Modifieds will again take on the Big Blocks of the Super DIRTcar Series in a second 100 lap Main Event.

Alex Friesen first developed the Summer Nationals in 1985 and in last year’s rain delayed event, his nephew Stewart Friesen was the winner.

The 32nd Ransomville Speedway Summer Nationals presented by Coors Light and Parco Building Systems will also feature events for the Investor’s Services Sportsman and Ki-Po Chevrolet Street Stocks.

Each facility will also feature pre-race traditions as Merrittville has it’s Pasta Dinner served up by Club Castropignano with Dinner Tickets $10 Cdn in advance or $12 on Race Day. Get your tickets at the track.

Tuesday Night … it’s the Annual Chicken BBQ. Race Day – the Dinners are $10 US.

Each of the 100 lap Super DIRTcar Series Main Events will pay $6,000 US to the winner with each track providing additional Lap Money and other Bonuses.

The St. Amand Family are proud of the individuals and companies that have come together to raise almost $7,000 in additional lap money and other awards that will be shared with each of the divisions in competition during the event. $100 to the Winner of the 1st heat – compliments of Krown Undercoating of Ransomville NY

$100 to the Winner of the 2nd heat – compliments of Vince’s Pizza Plus

$100 to the Winner of the 3rd heat – compliments of Farmer’s Insurance of Lockport NY

$100 to the 1st 358 Modified to Cross the Line – compliments of Bud’s Apple Pie

$100 to the Hard Charger of the Race – compliments of Outlaw Motorsports

$100 Hard Luck Award – compliments of Jill’s Play Yard

When the Great Clips Grandstand Ticket Office and Pit Gates open at 4 PM at Merrittville, Grandstand Admission is as follows all in Canadian Funds:

$30 for Adults, $25 for Students and Seniors, $10 for Children from 8-12 years of age and Children 7 and under are Free.

Pit Admission is $35 for Merrittville or DIRTcar members and $40 for Non-members.

Tuesday August 2nd at Ransomville, Grandstand Ticket Prices in US Funds are as follows:

$25 for Adults, $20 for Students and Seniors, $10 for Children from 8-12 years of age and Children 7 and under are Free.

Pit Admission is $27 for Ransomville or DIRTcar members and $32 for Non-members. Both prices are in US Funds.
