The 2023 Super DIRTcar Series schedule continues to tease a thrilling new season with the addition of a second date at Albany-Saratoga Speedway and its return to Airborne Speedway.

The Series will make its first trip of the year to Albany-Saratoga Speedway, in Malta, NY, for the Summer Starter 71 on Tuesday, June 13, and return to Airborne Speedway, in Plattsburgh, NY, for the Assault at Airborne on Wednesday, June 14. It’ll be the Series first time back at the half-mile track since 2019.

Both events pay $7,500 to win, continuing the championship season through June. The Summer Starter 71 will be 71 laps – a nod to Albany-Saratoga track-promoter Lyle Devore and his wife having both been born in 1971 – and the Assault at Airborne will be 75 laps.

Last year, local favorite Mike Mahaney earned his second straight victory at Albany-Saratoga Speedway during the June event while nine-time and defending Series champion Matt Sheppard won the Malta Massive Weekend in September. The 2023 edition of the Malta Massive Weekend will be Sept. 23, paying $10,000 to win and reward a guaranteed starting spot in the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 at Super DIRT Week 51.

This year will mark the Series’ fourth visit to Airborne Speedway, run by former Super DIRTcar Series Director Mike Perrotte. In its three previous trips to the northern New York track, Larry Wight won the first and last race, in 2017 and 2019, respectively, and Danny Johnson won in 2018.

The 2023 tour will commence in Florida at Volusia Speedway Park during the Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, Feb. 15-18. Then, the championship season, which includes two Albany-Saratoga and new Airborne events, will being at Atomic Speedway, March 31-April 1.
