SUPER DIRT WEEK XL DIGEST: Friday Night Lights Taking Shape

Musco Lighting will bring Moody Mile to life for Triple 20s & Twin 20s

WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – Sept. 4, 2011 – Never before has there been so much anticipation for Friday night during Super DIRT Week. At this year’s 40 th anniversary of Super DIRT Week, Musco Lighting systems will be positioned to light the New York State Fairgrounds on Oct. 7 for the DIRTcar 358-Modified Twin 20s and the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified Triple 20s.

“I wanted to see them at night, our fans wanted to see something different and exciting,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “We really wanted to do something spectacular for the 40th. It hasn’t been done so there’s a little bit of a wild card there. I’m excited for it.”

The Friday kickoff to the big weekend will begin with on track-activity at 1 p.m. Hot lap sessions will lead to the Futures races for all four divisions – Big-Block Modifieds, 358-Modifieds, Sportsman Modifieds and Pro Stocks. Then day gives to night and the battle begins at 7:05 p.m. for positions in the Super DIRTcar Series SEF Small Engine Fuel 200 Presented By Ferris and Snapper and the DIRTcar 358-Modified 150.

“One of the things that makes Super DIRT Week 40 exciting is to run the Triple 20s and the Twin 20s under the lights on Friday night at the New York State Fairgrounds,” said Jeff Hachmann, General Manager of the DIRTcar Racing Northeast Region. “It’s something everybody wants to be part of. It’s an exciting time for the fans, an exciting time for the drivers and exciting time to be part of this 40th anniversary.”

News & Notes

Expanded Pre-Staging Options for Campers: Rolling Wheels Raceway Park is quickly becoming the place for campers staging for Super DIRT Week XL. DIRTcar has opened Rolling Wheels Raceway’s camping areas to the public for fans who would like to stay overnight with their campers awaiting entry into the New York State Fairgrounds. New state regulations won’t allow for overnight camping on “the hill” across from the fairgrounds, although fans can still leave their campers in line there.

With constant communication between Rolling Wheels and “the hill,” order numbers will be distributed at both the pre-staging area for campers at Rolling Wheels and on “the hill.” The numbers will be issued in the order the camper arrives, no matter which location the campers choose.

On the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 5, when the gates to the fairgrounds open to the public, parties camping at Rolling Wheels Raceway will caravan to the fairgrounds and filter into position at Gate 6 with campers from “the hill” based on their number.
