Campers to Take Center Stage Wednesday Morning at Syracuse

DIRTcar 358-Modified Series set to race at Weedsport; Happy Hour practice canceled at Mile

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Oct. 4, 2011 – Wednesday’s ‘Happy Hour’ practice scheduled as the first on-track activity for Super DIRT Week XL at the New York State Fairgrounds has been canceled, giving track crews additional time to prepare ‘The Moody Mile’ for racing the rest of the week during the 40 th anniversary celebration of this historic race. Saturating weather the past two days forced officials to make the change.

Campers and race car haulers will begin moving into the New York State Fairgrounds as scheduled beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday. In what is expected to be one of this year’s most memorable sights, campers will caravan from Rolling Wheels Raceway Park beginning at 7 a.m. and merge by pre-assigned number with campers staged at the Fairgrounds as they enter through Gate 6 and set up their campsites around the Mile for the rest of the week.

Also on Wednesday, the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series will be in action at 7:30 p.m. at Weedsport Speedway on the Cayuga County Fairgrounds just minutes west of Syracuse. The doubleheader event also includes the DIRTcar Sportsman Series at the famed 3/8-mile track.

The first cars to hit the Mile will be the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds at 10 a.m. on Thursday, followed by the DIRTcar 358-Modifieds. Time trials will begin at 1:15 p.m. for the DIRTcar 358-Modifieds followed by the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Blocks.

The DIRTcar 358-Modifieds will also be in action on Thursday night when they join the World of Outlaws Late Model Series at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park for another huge doubleheader.

ANTICIPATION BUILDING ON TUESDAY

The Super DIRT Week Welcome Center at Gate 6 of the New York State Fairgrounds was a busy spot on Tuesday. Fans began picking up their tickets and teams arrived for early tech inspection with their sparkling Big-Block Modifieds ready for battle in the SEF Small Engine Fuel 200 Presented by Ferris & Snapper and 358-Modifieds set to race in the Nationwide Insurance 150.
