Super DIRTcar Series Racers Competing for Huge Point Fund
Lucrative payday also awaits champions in DIRTcar Northeast series and weekly events
WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – April 11, 2011 – DIRTcar Racing and World Racing Group announced the point funds today for each of its four DIRTcar Northeast Region Touring Series, as well as the detailed point funds for the Safety-Kleen Mr. DIRTcar weekly racing programs.
Drivers in the premier Big-Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series will compete for a top prize of $35,000 with an additional $3,000 in posted fuel awards from VP Racing Fuel – the official fuel of DIRTcar – making the top share $38,000 over the course of the 2011 season. Drivers must compete in 75 percent of the events at a DIRTcar-sanctioned facility to obtain a minimum number of bonus points (900), while a track champion will earn 1,000. It is the largest point fund program of any series in the Northeast.
“Our series are strong as a direct result of our efforts to build a solid weekly racing program,” said Northeast Director of Series and Sanctioning Joe Skotnicki. “That’s why we emphasize our weekly DIRTcar program if a racer intends to benefit from the series point fund. The series has been a great tradition of the DIRTcar program in the Northeast and we look forward to continuing that great tradition.”
The DIRTcar 358-Modified Series will vie for $10,000 in posted awards, while the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series will be racing for $3,500 in posted awards and the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series will race for $2,000.
Racers in the DIRTcar 358-Modified and Sportsman Modified divisions will need to compete in 75 percent of the events, while DIRTcar Pro Stocks will need to compete in 50 percent of the events at a DIRTcar-sanctioned facility to obtain a minimum number of bonus points (900), while a track champion will earn 1,000.
In January, DIRTcar announced the Safety-Kleen program to enhance the overall Mr. DIRTcar weekly championship program.
Geared for the weekly Friday-, Saturday- and Sunday-night racer, while still open to the touring pros, the Mr. DIRTcar titles are independent of the Super DIRTcar Series and other DIRTcar tours. The champion portions of the Mr. DIRTcar point funds will be:
• Big-Block Modified – $20,000 in posted awards ($10,000 in cash, $10,000 in valued contingency)
• 358-Modified – $3,000 in posted awards
• Sportsman Modified – $1,000 in posted awards
• Pro Stock – $1,000 in posted awards (the Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock champion will also receive a new GM Performance 602 crate engine.)
Among the additional benefits for DIRTcar-sanctioned tracks are direct and cooperative sponsorship opportunities that have been made available through DIRTcar to aid in their facility improvements, increased promotion and year-end awards for the upcoming season compliments of DIRTcar official partners Safety-Kleen, GM Performance Parts, Hoosier Racing Tire and VP Racing Fuel.
Additional awards from program partners, including Bilstein Shocks, Penske Shocks and KSE Power Steering will be part of the Mr. DIRTcar championship.
The Series awards alone reward more racers with more money than any other program in the Northeast. Combined with the Safety-Kleen program, racers in the Northeast are rewarded with one of the nation’s top weekly and regional touring point funds.
