Persistent Rain Through Weekend Cancels Remainder of Thunder in The Thousand Islands at Can-Am

The DIRTcar Sportsman Series race at Can-Am Speedway has been postponed to Friday, April 26

With heavy persistent rain in the LaFargeville, NY area, and more expected throughout the entire weekend, according to Precision Weather Service, Super DIRTcar Series, DIRTcar Northeast, and Can-Am Speedway officials have canceled Saturday’s portion of the Thunder in the Thousand Islands.

The decision comes after working closely with Meteorologist Wayne Mahar from Precision Weather Service and monitoring the local weather for the past 24 hours.

The Super DIRTcar Series portion of the event will not be made up. However, the DIRTcar Sportsman Series North Region event will now run during Can-Am’s 50th Golden Jubilee season opener on Friday, April 26.

Those who bought tickets for the event through MyRacePass will not be charged.

The Beasts of the Northeast will continue its high-octane show on Sunday, May 26 at Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, NY for the Heroes Remembered 100. For tickets, CLICK HERE. Then, the Series makes its debut at Thunder Mountain Speedway in Lisle, NY for Thunder on the Mountain on Monday, May 27.

Anthony Perrego and Peter Britten enter the Memorial Day Weekend doubleheader tied for the points lead, with defending Thunder Mountain track champion Darren Smith in third (four points back) and 10-time Series champion Matt Sheppard in fourth (seven points back).

Before that event, several Super DIRTcar Series stars will be in action with the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series at Fulton Speedway on Saturday, April 27 during Highbank Holdup weekend.

If you can’t make it to the track, watch all the action live on DIRTVision, either online or with the DIRTVision app.
