With Shane Andrews unable to continue his role as “The Voice” of the Super DIRTcar Series, New York-native Mike Warren steps into his dream opportunity

The Super DIRTcar Series will have a new, yet familiar, voice in 2023 and beyond with Mike Warren taking over as the Series announcer.

With Shane Andrews’ full-time job expanding and demanding more of his attention, making it impossible for him to continue as “The Voice” of the Series, Warren – who has served as a Series pit reporter and filled in for Andrews during World Finals in November – was selected to take over the mantle.

“This is a childhood dream come true,” said Warren, of Averill Park, NY – about 20 minutes outside Albany. “Having grown up in the Northeast, following the Super DIRTcar Series since I was young and idolizing announcers like Shane, Dan Martin and John Stanley, it’s a huge honor to get this opportunity.

“While it’ll be sad to no longer hear Shane in the booth, I can’t wait to bring the excitement of the The Beasts of the Northeast to the fans every race.”

Warren is currently the PR Coordinator for the World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series – a position he has held for the past two years, building a consistent narrative for the Series – and will continue that role in conjunction with his announcing responsibilities.

For as far back as he can remember, Warren said announcing always felt natural. Before he was announcing live races, Warren recounted practicing his announcing chops with Matchbox cars as a kid.

In 2010, he got the opportunity to step into the booth for the first time at Lebanon Valley Speedway. As the recognition of his talent behind the microphone grew, the call came to help with pit reporting at Super DIRT Week in 2018. He’s continued to work the Northeast’s marquee event every year, along with stepping into opportunities to pit report several other Super DIRTcar Series races, working alongside Andrews.

This year will mark the first time in 16 years Andrews won’t serve as “The Voice” for the Series, and while he’s saddened to have to step away, he couldn’t think of anyone better than Warren to replace him.

“Mike is going to do a tremendous job,” Andrews said. “He is passionate about Big Block Modified racing. This is evident every time he picks up the microphone. Mike is knowledgeable, personable and entertaining; a great mix to have when promoting the Super DIRTcar Series. The fans are in very good hands with Mike Warren.”

Warren will welcome fans to the start of the 2023 Super DIRTcar Series season when it commences at Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park, Feb. 15-18. For tickets, CLICK HERE.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can hear Warren call every race and watch every lap live on DIRTVision.
