Mr. DIRTcar Track Bonus Points Needed

DIRTcarRacing_07WEBnews

Weedsport, NYMarch 4, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing NorthEast PR Director

The title of overall Hoosier Tire-Sunoco Race Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Champion remains recognized as one of the most prestigious designations a driver can hold in short-track auto racing today.

In 2008, Mr. DIRTcar Champions will once again be determined by tabulating points earned in the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series for Big-Block Modifieds and the Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series for 358-Modified, Sportsman, Pro Stock and Street Stock teams along with bonuses collected in each divisional DIRTcar Regional Racing Series.

This year the track bonus formula will be identical for all five touring classes.

“The touring series will still account for the bulk of the points towards each Mr. DIRTcar title, yet the bonus points picked up at a weekly home track will be just as valuable,” said DIRTcar NorthEast Director of Competition & Track Sanctioning Cory Reed. “We’re striving to balance participation on the weekend with all of our tours and provide as many teams as possible the chance to maximize their earnings both at home and on the road.”

Each driver will now be taking the best five (5) finishes from a designated hometrack to collect bonus points which will then be added to actual Series points to determine the 2008 titlist. Using the standard DIRTcar NE weekly points format, a driver winning five features could carry up to 300 extra points (60 per win) into the Mr. DIRTcar Championship when track points are officially tallied after Labor Day.

For further questions regarding the 2008 Mr. DIRTcar Championship format or race schedules, please contact Cory Reed in the DIRTcar NE Office (315/834-6606) during normal business hours or log into the DIRT homepage at www.dirtcar.com or www.superdirtcarseries.com to find out more about the entire circuit.
