Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each Super DIRTcar Series event? Series Announcer Mike Warren will bring you his top-five* picks each week.
This week: Power in the Pines at New Egypt Speedway on Saturday, March 29
MIKE’S TOP FIVE:
1. Anthony Perrego
Why: He’s the event’s defending champion, and it feels like a breakout season is coming for the “Ant-Man.” He’s also finished in the top five in five consecutive touring events at the track, including two victories.
2. Ryan Godown
Why: Under no circumstance can you count out the defending champion at any racetrack. The “Ringoes Rocket” scored four wins there last year, and don’t forget, he beat the top Series drivers at Bridgeport Motorsports Park back in 2022.
3. Matt Sheppard
Why: His record at New Egypt speaks for itself. He’s a former track champion and has more wins there than any other full-time driver with the Series. Plus, after only one points-paying win in 2024, you can bet the 10-time champ will be hungry.
4. Stewart Friesen
Why: You can’t count out Stewart Friesen in any Super DIRTcar Series race after last year. He won three times in eight races and only finished outside the top five once in those events. He’s also finished on the podium in back-to-back starts at New Egypt.
5. Darren Smith
Why: There must be something about New Jersey that Darren Smith loves because he’s the only driver who’s finished in the top five in the last two Super DIRTcar Series races there. He’s led laps at New Egypt and Bridgeport over the past two seasons, and it may be his time to grab a Series win.
You can follow these drivers and more at New Egypt Speedway on Saturday, March 29, by getting your tickets in advance or at the gate.
If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all of the Super DIRTcar Series action- with Mike Warren – on DIRTVision, either online or with the DIRTVision app.
