Weedsport, NYSeptember 12, 2008 – By Tom Skibinski, Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series PR Director

Rain has continued to hamper competition across the Northeast in the 2008 Mr. DIRTcar Championship Series and this weekend started no different than the last.

Lernerville Speedway became the latest victim on Friday when General Manager Gary Risch Jr. was forced to pull the plug in the early morning hours as overcast skies unloaded over the Sarver, Pennsylvania oval with little clearing in sight.

“We’re extremely disappointed the weather wouldn’t cut us a break,” said Risch, after reluctantly cancelling the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series ‘North-South 100’ headliner on day one of Advance Auto Parts Autumn-Motive Fest Modified Madness. The event is not scheduled to be made up.

“The Advance Series stars coming to town certainly generated a lot of interest around the area from our fans and all the racers. We’re already looking into a possible date for next season as we want to grow this event for years to come,” Risch noted.

All the action now moves back to the Empire State when DIRTcar Racing NorthEast charter member tracks Canandaigua Speedway and Rolling Wheels Raceway Park host their final Big-Block Modified events of the season. The ‘Labatt Blue 100’ at Canandaigua on Saturday, September 20 comes next with the month’s activity culminating in the BPG National 200 during the 22nd World Series of DIRT Track Racing Weekend presented by Taylor Rental of Auburn at Rolling Wheels on Saturday, Sept. 27.

Come October, top Advance Series point chasers begin their final run toward the coveted overall Hoosier Tire Mr. DIRTcar Championship with two premier events closing out the 2008 campaign. Continuing to rank among the most prestigious races in the country, the Rite Aid 200 at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse concludes Super DIRT Week on Sunday, October 12 while the Eastern States 200 at Orange County Fair Speedway brings the curtain down on Sunday, Oct. 19.
