SYRACUSE, NY– March 9, 2018 – The Super DIRTcar Series is upping the ante on six of its scheduled events this season, earning the winners starting spots in the Big-Block Modified finale to Racing’s Biggest Party, NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLVII. These marquee events, now official NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifiers, are sure to thrill dirt racing fans in the northeast and beyond. Any driver who wins a Qualifier is guaranteed a starting spot in the biggest Big-Block event in the country, at Oswego Speedway on Sunday, October 7.
All Super DIRT Car Series events with a purse of $7,500 or higher will serve as NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifiers. As of now, there are five of these on the 2018 racing schedule: three at Weedsport Speedway, one at Albany-Saratoga Speedway, and another at Lebanon Valley Speedway. In addition to these, and in order to further honor the career of an outstanding Big-Block Modified driver, the Jack Johnson Tribute race at Fonda Speedway will guarantee the winner a starting position at NAPA Super DIRT Week.
Offering three opportunities for any driver to secure a spot in The Big Race — the first, the last, and another in between — Weedsport Speedway will play a prominent role on the NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifier schedule. On Monday, May 28, the first Qualifier will take the green for the Memorial Day 100. Drivers will be hungry for their shot at the historic win. The Hall of Fame 100 on Saturday, July 28 will again award the winner a guaranteed start at the Clay Palace in Oswego, NY. Finally, the 3/8-mile track hosts the Super DIRTcar Series in the last chance to get locked into NAPA Super DIRT Week XLVII on Monday, September 3 at the Labor Day Double Play 100.
On Tuesday, June 26, Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY will award the second NAPA Super DIRT Week XLVII guaranteed start to the winner of Brett Hearn’s The BIG Show 10. A great turn out of Big-Block Modifieds and fans is expected to pack The Great Race Place in eastern New York.
Lebanon Valley Speedway’s $17,500-to-win Mr. DIRT Track USA will also become a NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifier. Saturday, September 1 is the day, and West Lebanon, NY is the place for 100 laps of exciting Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified action.
And finally, the Jack Johnson Tribute race at Fonda Speedway, now in its fourth year, will award the winner the 12th starting position at NAPA Super DIRT Week. Jumpin’ Jack Johnson, an unstoppable force at Fonda Speedway and on the Super DIRTcar Series circuit for a quarter-century, won four Series championships between 1978 and 1988, and sits fifth in all-time Super DIRTcar Series wins with 57. In just a few years the Jack Johnson Tribute race has proven to be one of the most highly sought-after victories on the Big-Block Modified calendar. With the added prize of a guaranteed starting position in the NAPA Super DIRT Week Big-Block Modified finale, spectators at the historic Track of Champions will be in for a spectacular show.
Tracks not currently participating in the NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifier program will have the opportunity to raise their purse and be added to the schedule so stay tuned for updates.
