Huge Payday Up for Grabs in Mr. DIRT Track USA on Thursday at Lebanon Valley Speedway

WEST LEBANON, N.Y. – Aug. 24, 2011 – As the fall months approach and the weather cools down, the action on the Big-Block Modified Super DIRTcar Series is heating up, with $17,500 on the line Thursday night as the Big-Block stars invade Lebanon Valley Speedway for the 33rd running of the Mr. DIRT Track USA, the ninth stop on the 2011 Super DIRTcar Series trail.

J.R. Heffner is the defending winner of Mr. DIRT Track USA as he held off fellow track regulars Andy Bachetti and Wayne Jelley en route to the prestigious victory despite smoke pouring out of Heffner’s A. Colarusso & Son big-block modified over the final few laps. Heffner, currently sitting 5th in big-block points at Lebanon Valley, already has one high-paying victory this season at ‘The High Banks’ as he picked up a $4,000 victory on May 28th.

While Heffner looks to repeat, there will be more than 40 other big-block modifieds that will be trying to dethrone Heffner of his Mr. DIRT Track USA title. Brett Hearn, who recently picked up his 800th career victory at Fonda Speedway, will be in search of his record eighth career Mr. DIRT Track USA victory. Hearn is currently indulged in a classic Lebanon Valley Speedway points battle as he trails Kenny Tremont by just two points. Tremont will be looking for his fifth career Mr. DIRT Track USA victory on Thursday night.

The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series points battle is heating up as well. Billy Decker continues to lead and keep up his streak of finishing in the top-5 in every Super DIRTcar Series event in 2011, but Matt Sheppard and his Series-leading three victories sit just 49-points behind Decker. Both drivers have collected Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series victories at Lebanon Valley Speedway in the past.

A who’s who of big-block modifieds will be on hand vying for the $17,500 first-place prize. Along with Heffner, Hearn, Tremont, Sheppard, and Decker; Andy Bachetti, Danny Johnson, Jimmy Phelps, Eddie Marshall, Justin Haers, Alan Johnson, Bobby Varin, Gary Tomkins, Donnie Corellis, Peter Britten, Larry Wight, Mark Flach, Michael Storms, Rob Bellinger, and Tommy Sears are just some of the modified stars that will be in action Thursday night.

The always-exciting Lebanon Valley budget sportsman division will join the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series on the card.

Cars will hit the track on Thursday night for the first time at 6:00 p.m. with time trials scheduled to begin at 6:15. General admission tickets are just $20, with reserved seats at $21, while kids 11 and under get in for just $5. Pit prices are $20 with a DIRTcar license and $25 without.
