Advance Tickets On Sale For May 1 Virginia Series Show

Advance tickets for the 2nd Annual Paul Sawyer Memorial presented by Thurston Spring Service, Inc. to be held at Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway on Thursday May 1, 2008 are now on sale. The Sawyer Memorial presented by Thurston Spring will mark the return of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series to the ½-mile speedplant in Jamaica, Va.

This year the stakes are a bit higher as the 60-lap feature for the Advance Auto Parts Series will pay $10,000 to the winner and $750 to start the “A” Main. An all-star cast of open-wheel entries spanning five states and Canada is anxiously waiting to take center stage in the Advance Series special at the Sawyer Family facility, with a few surprises still waiting in the wings as the date approaches.

Leading the way of over 40 drivers is defending race winner “The Doctor” Danny Johnson of Rochester, NY. Also look to see six-time Mr. DIRT Brett “The Jet” Hearn, Tim Fuller, Alan Johnson, Jimmy Phelps, Billy Decker and a host of other Northeast hot shoes ready to take home the top prize.

The night’s events will also include a $5,000-to-win 40-lap super late model event. Scheduled to appear are NASCAR stars Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace. Schrader will compete in the super late model event, while Wallace will pilot a Big-Block Modified for a second straight year.

Advance tickets prices for adults are $22; Senior’s (60+) are $20, military $20, Students 13-17 are $15, children 7-12 are $10 and children 6 and under are free with a paying adult.

Admission the day of the show will see adult tickets $25; Senior’s (60+) are $23, military $20, Students 13-17 are $15, children 7-12 are $10 and children 6 and under are free with a paying adult.

Tickets sales will be between the hours of 9am and 3:30pm. All seats are general admission. There will be a $3 transaction fee per order. Mastercard and Visa accepted.

Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway is located on U.S. Route 17, eight miles north of Saluda, VA and 25 miles south of Tappahannock, VA. The speedway is just a short drive from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Southern Maryland and the Hampton Roads area.
