Middletown, NYJuly 22, 2008 — By John Snyder, Orange County PR

Mark down Thursday, July 31 as one of the biggest nights of the year at the historic Orange County Fair Speedway in Middletown, New York as the traveling Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified teams roll into town.

The Invaders will battle Orange County’s corps of top Modified drivers in a full slate of time trials, qualifying heat races and a $6,000-to-win 75-lap feature race. The Orange County event will be the 12th point race on the Modified Super DIRTcar Series.

Billy Decker from Unadilla, New York, with five wins and eight top-five finishes in 11 previous Advance Series starts, is the current points leader, 113 markers ahead of 2007 Mr. DIRTcar Modified champion Brett Hearn. Dale Planck, Jimmy Phelps and Matt Sheppard complete the top-five in the standings.

While invader Decker, as well as expected entrant Frank Cozze, who won last year’s Series race, and Hearn, Orange County’s all-time champion and feature winner, have to be considered the favorites, ‘Hard Clay’ weekly competitors and Modified champions Jeff Heotzler, Chuck McKee and Rich Eurich will be out to uphold hometown bragging rights on the 5/8-mile fairgrounds oval.

As an added bonus, the UMP/DIRTcar Pro Stock division will also be in competition, with heats and a 20-lap feature race for the full-fendered cars.

The premier Big-Block teams in the Northeast battling Orange County’s own Modified racing stars as well as the closely contested Pro Stocks — it all adds up to a great night of car racing at Orange County Fair Speedway.

Co-sponsors for the Thursday night race meet include Advance Auto Parts, Escape RV, WRWD 107.3 & 99.3 and Wolf 94.3 & 97.3.

Pit gate opens at 4:00 pm, spectator gates at 5:00 pm, with the first race set for 7:00 pm. General admission for the Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRTcar Series show is $22 for adults, $20 for seniors and teens 13-17 years old, and free for children 12 and under. Parking on the fairgrounds is free while there is a $1.00 charge for drive-in section parking with that fee going towards the drivers’ season-ending point funds.
