Syracuse, NYOctober 13, 2009 – By Chris Dolack, World Racing Group VP Media/Public Relations

The World Finals is one of the premier dirt racing events each year on the calendar. The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway is host to the only time during the season the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and the World of Outlaws Late Models race on the same night at the same venue. And it’s where the champions are crowned.

Beginning in 2010, the Super DIRTcar Series featuring the best Big-Block Modified drivers in the country will make the event even bigger as they will now decide their own championship with two points races to conclude their season at the World Finals on Nov. 4-6, 2010.

“The World Finals has quickly become a must see event and is on track to sell out yet again this year,” said Seamus Curley, manager of short-track racing at Lowe’s Motor Speedway. “Together with World Racing Group, the Dirt Track offers fans an unbelievable value with our low-priced three-day ticket package.

“Each year the show gets bigger and bigger, and 2010 will be no exception with the addition of the Big-Block Modifieds, which have a major following in the Northeast. Bringing all three of the premier dirt racing series together for one huge season ending event will truly be ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt.’”

The Super DIRTcar Series will have a total of 10 qualifying heats — five for each of the race nights — on the opening Thursday, with the top-four from each heat race transferring directly into the A-mains on Friday and Saturday nights. A Last Chance Showdown will also run on Friday and Saturday.

To be eligible to race at the World Finals, a driver must attempt to qualify for the 2010 Rite Aid 200 Presented By Ferris & Snapper Mowers or compete in any Super DIRTcar Series event during the 2010 season. Competitors must also be DIRTcar Racing members.

“The World Finals is a huge stage for dirt racing, and we’re excited to be able to include the Super DIRTcar Series in 2010,” said World Racing Group CEO Brian Carter. “Having just concluded the 2009 season with Matt Sheppard’s victory at 38th Annual Super DIRT Week in Syracuse and Brett Hearn’s series championship, we are extremely excited for the 2010 season knowing that it will now put the Big-Block Modifieds on the same stage with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars and the World of Outlaws Late Models. It was a goal of ours to be able to showcase our three premier series at the same venue, in 2010 that will be a reality.”

The 2009 World Finals is less than a month away. For tickets, call 1-800-455-FANS or visit http://www.lowesmotorspeedway.com/worldfinals.
