The event will award $10,000 and a guaranteed 50th NAPA Super DIRT Week starting spot

The historic Orange County Fair Speedway will host the Super DIRTcar Series for its only stop at the Middletown, NY track this year on Thursday, July 28.

Along with a $10,000 payday to the winner, the event will also award one driver with a prestigious guaranteed starting spot for the 50th Running of NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week.

Like years past, the race will see the best Big Block Modified drivers in the region battling wheel-to-wheel around one of the biggest and fastest tracks on the tour.

Notables: Last year was the Series’ first time back at Orange County since 2019 and saw NASCAR Truck Series star Stewart Friesen pick up his second Super DIRTcar Series win at the track. He has 11 wins at Orange County overall.

Three-time Series champion Billy Decker, of Unadilla, NY – about two hours from Orange County – has three Series wins at the track and will be back to try and claim his fourth in his 33rd year on the Series tour.

The high-speed nature of the track doesn’t only serve veteran drivers, though. Last year’s Rookie of the Year Chris Hile earned a career-best second-place finish, holding off Series champions Matt Sheppard and Mat Williamson for the spot.

However, Sheppard will enter the event as one of the most recent Big Block winners at the track, having already picked up a win there this year and having won the Eastern States 200 in October. A win in July would be a significant boost to his hopes of picking up his ninth Series title this year – behind the wheel of his #9s Modified.

Orange County will be the third 50th NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifier this year, giving a third different driver the chance to secure a guaranteed starting spot in the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 on Oct. 9. So far, LJ Lombardo is the only driver to have locked a spot. The next will be awarded at Weedsport Speedway on July 24.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all the action live on DIRTVision – either online or by downloading the DIRTVision App.
