A racer his entire life since the age of 15, Mike Mahaney has been in and around the world of racing for almost 20 years.
Starting out in Slingshots in 2005, he branched out to the Sportsman division two seasons later as his growth steadily improved, and the wins continued to come. In 2007, he recorded three Sportsman wins and won Rookie of the Year at Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y.
He continued to move up, eventually taking the wheel behind a DIRTcar 358 Modified and competing full-time on the Super DIRTcar Series in a Big Block Modified.
Mike Mahaney finished in the top 10 in the Series standings for the second time in 2024. However, despite eight top 10s, “Smooth Shoe” went winless throughout the season. His best finishes were a pair of eighths at Weedsport Speedway and Oswego Speedway during Super DIRT Week.
