A racer his entire life since the age of 15, Mike Mahaney has been in and around the world of racing for almost 20 years.

Starting out in Slingshots in 2005, he branched out to the Sportsman division two seasons later as his growth steadily improved, and the wins continued to come. In 2007, he recorded three Sportsman wins and won Rookie of the Year at Cayuga County Fair Speedway in Weedsport, N.Y.

He continued to move up, eventually taking the wheel behind a DIRTcar 358 Modified and competing full-time on the Super DIRTcar Series in a Big Block Modified.

Entering 2026, "Smooth Shoe" is searching for his 4th career Series win, his last victory coming at Autodrome Drummond in 2023. However, he did earn the Albany-Saratoga Speedway track championship outside of a 6th-place finish in the 2025 Series standings.
