There’s one event the dirt racing industry talks about all year, and it’s now only a month away.

The Dave Smith Motors World of Outlaws World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

Set for Wednesday-Saturday, Nov. 4-7, the championship event for the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series presented by DIRTVision, and Super DIRTcar Series will bring the best drivers in the country together for four straight nights of star-studded galore.

On the track, action-filled laps will close out chapters. Off the track, endless fanfare will fill every open gap in the program from the second the gates open.

The event kicks off on Tuesday, Nov. 3, with a hauler parade in front of zMAX Dragway from 4-6 p.m. Then, teams in the three divisions will qualify on Wednesday to line up Thursday and Friday’s Heat Race lineups. Thursday through Saturday will feature full race programs (minus Qualifying) along with the famous 3×4 Salute on Friday and the championship celebration on Saturday night.

Series Storylines:

World of Outlaws Sprint Cars – David Gravel has his sights set on a third straight World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series title as he’s maintained a three-digit points lead for most of the season. However, second-place Buddy Kofoid – currently the winningest driver this year – has shown that if Gravel has an off night, he’ll be there to capitalize.

They traded wins at The Dirt Track last year, with Gravel winning the second night and Kofoid winning the finale. Gravel has also won a race at Charlotte the last three years.

After stout rookie seasons, Garet Williamson and Cole Macedo will look to finish their sophomore seasons strong at Charlotte with career-best points finishes. Williamson, who won the Kevin Gobretch Rookie of the Year Award presented by Five Star Bodies last year, currently sits sixth, trying to hold off 10-time Series champion Donny Schatz from stealing the spot. Macedo is eighth in points in a fight with Spencer Bayston for the position.

Emerson Axsom is on track to be crowned this year’s Rookie of the Year, currently sitting 10th in points with one win. He earned his career-best at Charlotte last year with a sixth-place finish.

World of Outlaws Late Models – Bobby Pierce is also chasing his third Series title this year, trying to hold off Nick Hoffman for the feat. Even with 20 wins this year, Hoffman has not let the reigning champion run away with another title. The NOS Energy Drink No. 9 is currently 96 points behind Pierce with three races to go in their season.

Hoffman has five wins at Charlotte, while Pierce has one; however, all of Hoffman’s wins came in a Modified during World Short Track Championship. He’s yet to win at Charlotte in a Late Model. Hoffman had a stronger showing than Pierce at Charlotte last year, though. He never finished worse than seventh across the three nights, while Pierce’s best finish was 12th.

Behind them, Tyler Erb is on track for a career-best points finish, currently sitting in third with four wins.

Daulton Wilson is trying to lock up the MD3 Rookie of the Year Award, currently seventh in points. Trey Mills, his closest competition for the title, is right behind him in eighth, but over 100 points back.

Super DIRTcar Series – A new champion could be crowned in the Super DIRTcar Series for the first time since 2019 when Mat Williamson won his first title.

Alex Yankowski, 22, currently leads Williamson – now the three-time and reigning champion – by 98 points with six races remaining. He also leads Williamson in all categories with more wins, more top fives, more top 10s, and more laps led.

Both drivers are stout at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Yankowski got his first Super DIRTcar Series win there in 2021. Williamson has four wins at the track, including a win there last year.

Alex Payne will try to hold on to his second consecutive podium finish in the standings while fourth through sixth are currently separated by 12 points. Jack Lehner is fourth, trying to hold on to a career-best points finish; Jimmy Phelps sits fifth; and Matt Sheppard, who is still looking for his first Series win this year, is sixth. Lehner and Phelps are still hunting for their first Series win at Charlotte – Lehner his first Series win ever.

If you can’t make it to the track, how can you watch the Dave Smith Motors World of Outlaws World Finals? All four nights are live on DIRTVision.
