A return to one of Central New York’s iconic venues kicks off the September swing for the Beasts of the Northeast.
The Super DIRTcar Series visits Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, NY, for the final time in 2026 on Sunday, Sept. 6, for the Cavalcade Cup 100. A $10,000 prize is on the line in a 100-lap Feature.
Along with the Super DIRTcar Series, the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series joins the card in the annual Sportsman Classic. The Hoosier 600 Microsprint Tour finishes out the three-division show.

Here’s a look at what to watch for at Weedsport:
Nine Races to Go: After winning his second SummerFAST championship, Alex Yankowski has an 84-point lead over three-time defending Series champion Mat Williamson heading into Sunday’s Cavalcade Cup 100.
The Covington Township, PA driver is the only competitor to finish in the top 10 in every points-paying Super DIRTcar Series Feature in 2026. He’s also earned 10 top fives, including a fourth-place finish at Weedsport in the Hall of Fame 100. In six starts at Weedsport, Yankowski has four top fives and five top 10s.
A win by “Kid Rocket” on Sunday would be his ninth career Series win at nine different racetracks.

Williamson, meanwhile, has found success at Weedsport already in 2026, winning both DIRTcar Big Block Modified events during the Empire State Challenge with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars. The St. Catharines, ON driver also crossed the line third in the Hall of Fame 100 last month, but was light at the scales, relegating him to a last-place finish.
Overall, Williamson has 11 wins, 21 top fives and 24 top 10s in 43 starts at Weedsport. Four of those wins are Super DIRTcar Series triumphs.
If he wins on Sunday, it’ll be “Money Mat’s” 40th career Series win, breaking a tie with Bob McCreadie for seventh on the all-time wins list.
Stew’s Playground: Over the past two seasons, no one has been better than Stewart Friesen in Super DIRTcar Series events at Weedsport.
The NASCAR Trucks Series star has won his last four Series starts at the track, and four of the last five overall. Friesen, from Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON, has nine Super DIRTcar Series wins at Weedsport, and 12 overall victories along with 25 top fives and 36 top 10s.

Friesen is the leading Super DIRTcar Series winner in 2026, after winning his seventh Feature at Utica-Rome Speedway during SummerFAST. A win on Sunday would be his 59th career Series triumph.
Payne’s Redemption: One driver looking for redemption after last month’s stop at Weedsport is Alex Payne.
The Hopewell, NY driver, who earned his fifth career Series win at Land of Legends Raceway last month, led the first 54 laps of the Hall of Fame 100 in August, before an incident relegated him to a 20th-place finish.
That finish was Payne’s only finish outside the top five in the last nine Series races and only finish outside the top 10 in his last 11 starts. He also won the track’s Icebreaker 50 at Weedsport in May.
If Payne wins on Sunday, it’ll be his sixth career Super DIRTcar Series victory.
Battle For Fourth: Every position matters on the road to the World of Outlaws World Finals, and 30 points separate positions four through seven.
Super DIRTcar Series veteran Jimmy Phelps leads that battle, 11 points ahead of 10-time Series champion Matt Sheppard. Phelps, from Baldwinsville, NY, finished seventh in the Hall of Fame 100, which is part of a streak of seven top 10s in his last eight races.
At Weedsport, Phelps has two Super DIRTcar Series victories and 22 overall victories at the 3/8-mile track. He’s searching for his third Series win of the season, and 25th career Series triumph.
Sheppard, meanwhile, has struggled after finishing second in the Hall of Fame 100 at Weedsport last month, rounding out SummerFAST with 14th-, 12th-, and 23rd-place finishes. Those results dropped him to fifth in the standings, 14 points ahead of Jack Lehner in sixth.
“Super Matt” will aim to rebound at one of his most successful tracks, where he’s won eight times with the Super DIRTcar Series and 28 times overall. Sheppard is aiming for his 104th Series win and first of 2026.
Behind Phelps and Sheppard, Lehner and Felix Roy are separated by five points entering this weekend’s Cavalcade Cup 100.
Lehner, from Saratoga Springs, NY, ended the night on the podium last month at Weedsport after Williamson was light on the scales. The “Ginga Ninja” has finished in the top 10 in each of the last four races.
Roy, meanwhile, finished sixth in the Hall of Fame 100 last month, as part of a string of seven straight top 10s, and nine top 10s in his last 10 races.
Both Roy and Lehner are searching for their first career Super DIRTcar Series victory.
