Six-time Super DIRT Week champion Stewart Friesen has tapped family friend and Super DIRTcar Series competitor Alex Yankowski to drive the Halmar Friesen Racing No. 44 at Super DIRT Week 53.

While Friesen continues to recover from his accident at Autodrome Drummond in July, his HFR team will look to score their second straight Super DIRTcar Series Billy Whittaker Cars 200 title at Oswego Speedway with “Kid Rocket” behind the wheel.

“We’re excited to have Alex in our stuff for those two big ones (Super DIRT Week and Eastern States),” Friesen told reporters during an interview at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

With a Super DIRT Week winning ride underneath him and a winning team behind him, Yankowski will try to score his first Billy Whittaker Cars 200 title. He made his first appearance in the prestigious race last year, finishing seventh.

The Covington Township, PA driver is also in the hunt for the 2025 Super DIRTcar Series championship, currently sitting second in points behind two-time Series champion Mat Williamson.

“We’re looking forward to making things happen in the HFR car,” Yankowski said in a Facebook post about the opportunity.

This will not be the first time this year the two drivers have helped each other out with a ride. After suffering a motor issue at Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals in February, Friesen piloted Yankowski’s backup car during the final night of the event.

Friesen, who is the defending Billy Whittaker Cars 200 champion, will be honored throughout the week at Super DIRT Week 53, starting with the raising of his championship flag at Oswego City Hall on Tuesday, Oct. 7, during Racing’s Biggest Block Party in Downtown Oswego.
