A massive tradition continues this weekend for the Super DIRTcar Series.

The Beasts of the Northeast return to Albany-Saratoga Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 20, as part of the track’s annual Malta Massive Weekend, the biggest weekend of racing in New York’s Capital Region.

Drivers will battle in a 100-lap Feature, paying $10,000-to-win. The race also offers the final guaranteed starting spot in the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 at Super DIRT Week 53.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all the action live on DIRTVision.

Malta Massive Weekend is the only time throughout the season prior to Super DIRT Week where fans can see all four DIRTcar Northeast Series in action during the same weekend.

The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series will join the Super DIRTcar Series on Saturday, Sept. 20. Meanwhile, the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series and DIRTcar Sportsman Series are in action at the track on Saturday, Sept. 19.

Here’s a look at what to watch for at Albany-Saratoga Speedway:

The Final Spot: Saturday’s stop at Albany-Saratoga will offer one the final guaranteed starting spot in this year’s Billy Whittaker Cars 200.

So far, seven drivers have locked into Super DIRT Week 53, with Stewart Friesen, Mario Clair, Mat Williamson, Matt Sheppard, Alex Yankowski, Anthony Perrego, and Kolby Schroder earning their spot at “Racing’s Biggest Party.”

Here are the remaining Super DIRT Week Qualifiers in 2025:
Albany-Saratoga Speedway (Sept. 20)

Seven Races to Go: Entering Malta Massive Weekend, defending Series champion Mat Williamson has an 82-point lead over Alex Yankowski with seven races to go. And like Can-Am, Albany-Saratoga is a track the St. Catharines, ON driver’s had recent success.

Williamson is the defending winner of the event and hasn’t finished outside the top 10 in his last five starts at the Malta, NY oval. That includes winning two of the last three Series Features.

“Money Mat” is on a streak of 15 straight top 10 Super DIRTcar Series finishes and has finished in the top five in 13 of those events. He’s also earned a podium finish in four of the last five races.

My Name is Alex: After the R.D. Hutchinson Memorial at Can-Am, a driver named Alex makes up two of the three podium spots in the Super DIRTcar Series standings.

Alex Yankowski remains in second after his win at Can-Am, as he closes in on his first podium finish in the standings. Like Williamson, the Covington Township, PA driver has found success at Albany-Saratoga, finishing second and third in his last two Series starts.

“Kid Rocket” has finished in the top 10 in his last four Series starts, including three top fives and two podiums. He’s searching for his fifth career Series win during Malta Massive Weekend.

Alex Payne, meanwhile, took advantage of a runner-up finish at Can-Am to move up to third in the Series standings for the first time in his career.  The result was the Hopewell, NY driver’s fourth podium finish of the season, and fourth straight Series top 10.

However, Payne has had mixed results at Albany-Saratoga, earning a top 10 in three Series starts. His best finish at the track was seventh during last year’s DIRTcar 358 Modified portion of Malta Massive Weekend.

Defending the Capital Region: Anytime the Series battles at Albany-Saratoga, it’s a chance for Super DIRTcar Series drivers who race there weekly to defend home turf.

This season, five Series drivers called the track home on Friday night, including 2025 track champion Mike Mahaney.

The “Great Race Place” has been the Elizabethtown, NY driver’s best track on the Series. He’s earned two of his three Series victories at Albany-Saratoga, including a Malta Massive Weekend triumph in 2021.

“Smooth Shoe” enters the weekend sixth in points, 31 points behind Erick Rudolph for fifth in the standings.

One of the closest competitors to Mahaney on Friday nights in 2025 was Justin Stone, who finished third in the track’s points standings, along with a Feature win.

The Middlebury, VT driver earned his best Series finish at the track during the 60th Anniversary Celebration in April, crossing the line 10th. That’s also his best finish of the season, a feat he’s accomplished twice in 2025.

Felix Roy called the track home for the first time in his career this season, earning a Big Block Modified win along with the DIRTcar 358 Modified Series championship. Albany-Saratoga is also the site of the Napierville, QC driver’s best Series finished when he crossed the line second during Malta Massive Weekend in 2023.

“Hollywood” is locked into a battle for seventh in the Series standings. He’s currently ninth in the Series standings, battling for seventh along with fellow track regulars Peter Btitten and Jack Lehner.

Regional Standouts: Along with the drivers on the Super DIRTcar Series who call Albany-Saratoga home, there’s a stout group of regional competitors aiming to score the Malta Massive Weekend win.

That group is led by Marc Johnson, who finished second to Mahaney in this year’s track points standings. The two-time track champion won two Features at Albany-Saratoga in 2025, including one earlier this month. The Guilderland, NY driver’s best finish in a Series event at the track is second in June of 2022.

Joining the “White Knight” is former track champion Matt Delorenzo, who reached Victory Lane four time this season. A runner-up results is also the Cropseyville, NY driver’s best Series finish, when crossed the line second to Chris Hile in June 2023.

Another driver to watch, despite not being a track regular, is L.J. Lombardo. The Danbury, CT driver scored his second career Series win at Albany-Saratoga in April, becoming one of 13 different winners this season.

Lombardo has only made one other Series start at the track, finishing 29th in 2017.
