LATEST RACES: Weedsport Speedway (July 14)

Current Points Leader: A ninth-place finish in the Hall of Fame 100 was enough for 10-time defending Super DIRTcar Series champion Matt Sheppard to take over the points lead for the first time in 2024.

The Waterloo, NY driver holds a two-point lead over Anthony Perrego, a three-point lead over Jimmy Phelps, and a 10-point lead over Mat Williamson. 

Movers:

Anthony Perrego (+1): Perrego’s third place finish vaulted him back to second in the points standings, two points behind Sheppard. The Montgomery, NY driver is one the two drivers who’ve finished the top 10 in all seven points-paying Features. 

Jimmy Phelps (+1): The other driver with seven consecutive top 10 finishes is Jimmy Phelps. The Baldwinsville, NY driver finished second on Sunday at Weedsport—his third straight Series podium finish.

Phelps is three points behind Sheppard and one point behind Perrego.

Mat Williamson (-3): After a mechanical failure in the Hall of Fame 100 relegated him to a 23rd-place finish, Mat Williamson dropped three positions to fourth in the Series standings. The St. Catharines, ON driver is 10 points behind Sheppard entering the three-night Canadian swing. 

Larry Wight (+1): Despite finishing 17th at Weedsport, Larry Wight moved up one spot to eighth in the standings. The Phoenix, NY driver is 137 points behind Sheppard and 18 points behind Darren Smith for seventh. 

Mike Mahaney (+1): Mike Mahaney also moved up a spot to eighth after finishing 16th. Mahaney is three points behind Wight for eighth, and 140 points out of the lead.

Jack Lehner (+2): With two consecutive top 10 finishes, Jack Lehner moved up two spots to ninth. The “Ginga Ninja” is two points behind Mahaney for eighth and five points behind Wight for seventh. 

Alex Payne (-3): After finishing 23rd at Weedsport on Sunday, Alex Payne dropped out of the top 10. The Hopewell, NY driver, who’s 11th in points, leads the battle for Rookie of the Yeat by 96 points over Mike Trautschold.
