WEST LEBANON, N. Y. – August 17, 2012 – Brett’s back. And Brett “the Jet” Hearn’s return to the Super DIRTcar Bit-Block Modified Series did not disappoint.

Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds Gear up for Rolling Wheels

Stakes Get Higher at “The Fast Track” with Season’s First 150-Point Race

ELBRIDGE, N. Y. – August 20, 2012 – The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series battle for points heats up for the 100-lap, 150-point ninth round Sunday, September 2, at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. With only a few races left before NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI and the Sixth Annual Lowes Foods World Finals, and with the winner’s share of points increasing from 100 to 150, anything can happen between now and the championship.

Jimmy Phelps, second in points, trails leader and defending series champion Matt Sheppard by just 50 points and hopes resurrecting some old tactics can bring him success at the Stars & Stripes 100. The Baldwinsville, N. Y., native began his career racing regularly at Rolling Wheels, but his 2011 season saw uncharacteristic results with seventh- and eighth-place finishes. However, some retrospective strategizing helped him to an improved fourth-place finish at “The Fast Track’s” 66-lapper during All-Star Weekend in May.

“We crept back toward some of our old notes in the spring race and that put us in the right direction, and we’ve just got to take it a bit further and see what happens,” Phelps said. “I think the biggest thing is that we’ve worked so hard to get better at race tracks that we struggled at, that we forgot what we were doing at home.” (Photo by Dave Dallesandro)

Hearn Returns for Super DIRTcar Series Win at Lebanon Valley
Starting 23rd, Brett Hearn Beats out Jimmy Phelps for Victory

WEST LEBANON, N. Y. – August 17, 2012 – Brett’s back. And Brett “the Jet” Hearn’s return to the Super DIRTcar Bit-Block Modified Series did not disappoint.

Sudden illness kept Hearn from competing in last week’s series events at Merrittville and I96 Speedways, but he made up for his absences with a stunning victory at Lebanon Valley Speedway’s $17,500-to-win “Mr. DIRT Track USA” Thursday, Aug. 16.

After starting 23rd, even Hearn, seven-time Super DIRTcar Series champion and regular racer of Lebanon Valley’s high-banked half-mile, was surprised to find himself leading the field through the checkered flag.

“I’m totally in shock,” said Hearn in victory lane. “I really didn’t know what to expect tonight.” (Photo by Mike Petrucci)

First-Ever Super DIRTcar Series Event in Michigan Goes to “the Doctor”

LAKE ODESSA, MICH. – August 8, 2012 – It’s not often that veteran Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified driver “the Doctor” Danny Johnson encounters a track he’s never raced, but when he did Tuesday at I96 Speedway, he opened the throttle and raced ahead of the 16-car field to his second 2012 series victory.

“To be able to come here and get a win is an awesome deal for my race team,” said four-time series champion Johnson in victory lane. “They work really hard on the car; it was a lot of hard work and we were one of the last cars in the line getting ready, and it all paid off in the end.” (Photos by James McDonald)

Mike Bowman Leads 100 Laps to Garner First Career Super DIRTcar Series Win

Small Block Fends off Matt Sheppard in Series Round 6

THOROLD, ONTARIO – August 7, 2012 – Mike Bowman’s first-ever Super DIRTcar Series victory was more than just a win – it was a sweep as the no. 71 Hydraulics/Seaway Fluid Power Group Ltd. driver led the 34-car field in almost aspect, from qualifiers through to the checkered flag.

The local 358-Modifed driver barely expected to qualify against the mighty Big-Block Modifieds, let alone lead them in every single lap of the Monday’s 100-lap feature at Merrittville Speedway.

“When these guys come to town, you pretty much hope to get in the feature let alone win it,” Bowman said.
