Super DIRT Week 53 adds downtown block party on West 1st Street to its Tuesday schedule

Super DIRT Week has teamed with the City of Oswego to bring the excitement of Racing’s Biggest Party to Downtown Oswego on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

The City of Oswego, the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce by CenterSate, and Super DIRT Week will transform West 1st Street into a high-revving block party, featuring live music, race cars, Super DIRT Week drivers, food vendors, restaurant specials, a social district, and a variety of activities.

“With the Hurricane Harvey at Brewerton put on hold this year, we still wanted to provide fans with a special event Tuesday night, and there was an exciting opportunity to work with the city to bring Racing’s Biggest Party into downtown,” said Jeff Hachmann, Super DIRT Week executive director of events. “We’re grateful to City Mayor Robert Corradino, and the chamber of commerce for working with us to create a special block party that race fans and city residents can enjoy.”

The block party is another opportunity for Super DIRT Week to make Racing’s Biggest Party even bigger by extending it into the city and provide another source of entertainment for Oswego residents and race fans before the popular City of Oswego Parade and the start of racing action on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

“Super DIRT Week has become a cornerstone of Oswego’s fall season, and we’re thrilled to expand the celebration into the heart of our city,” said Oswego Mayor Rob Corradino. “Bringing Racing’s Biggest Party downtown is a fantastic way to showcase our vibrant community, support local businesses, and give fans and residents a chance to come together in a high-energy, family-friendly atmosphere. A huge thank you to Super DIRT Week and the Greater Oswego – Fulton Chamber of Commerce.”

“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Super DIRT Week and the City of Oswego for this exciting event,” said Sara Broadwell, executive director of the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce, by CenterState. “This block party is a testament to our collective effort to showcase Oswego as a vibrant place to live, work and visit. It’s an opportunity not only to celebrate but also to support and strengthen our local economy.”

In addition to the entertainment, everyone in attendance will get to help celebrate Stewart Friesen’s 2024 Billy Whittaker Cars 200 victory as he will raise his championship flag at Oswego City Hall during the event.

Racing’s Biggest Block Party will take place on West 1st Street, between Bridge and Oneida Streets – about seven minutes from Oswego Speedway. It will be free for all to attend from 4 to 8 p.m.
