Curious which drivers you should keep an eye on at each Super DIRTcar Series event? Series Announcer Mike Warren will bring you his five drivers to keep an eye on each race weekend.

This week: Heroes Remembered 100 at Weedsport Speedway, May 25, and Natural 77 at Thunder Mountain Speedway, May 26

MIKE’S FIVE:

Mat Williamson
Why: Williamson has won of the last four Heroes Remembered 100s and three of the last four Super DIRTcar Series events at Weedsport. He also finished second at Thunder Mountain last year. He’s due for a win and comes in red hot winning the last six races he’s entered.

Stewart Friesen
Why: The only driver to beat Williamson in a Super DIRTcar Series event at Weedsport since 2023 is Friesen, who won last year’s Hall of Fame 100. He also won the finale at the track last September and won his last Super DIRTcar Series event at New Egypt in March.

Matt Sheppard
Why: He’s due. In the last 365 days, Sheppard has only won two Super DIRTcar Series races. And what better place to get back on track than a place where he’s a two-time track champion than Weedsport.

Jimmy Phelps
Why: There’s only one Super DIRTcar Series winner in Thunder Mountain history, and that’s Phelps. The “Baldwinsville Bandit” also finished second to Friesen in last year’s Hall of Fame 100 and has either a first or second-place finish in each of the last three seasons at Weedsport.

Darren Smith
Why: There isn’t one full-time Super DIRTcar Series driver with more laps around Thunder Mountain than Darren Smith. He’s knocked on the door to a Series win twice in his career, and could do it again on Monday in front of his home crowd.

You can follow these drivers and more at Weedsport Speedway on Sunday, May 25, and Thunder Mountain Speedway on Monday, May 26. Tickets are available at the gates.

If you can’t make it to the track, you can watch all of the Super DIRTcar Series action- with Mike Warren – on DIRTVision, either online or with the DIRTVision app.
