Weedsport, NYJune 29, 2009 – By Tom Skibinski, DIRTcar Racing Northeast PR Director

The inaugural DIRTcar All-Star Weekend is on the verge of making history at the Cayuga County Fairgrounds on July 17-19, and long-time DIRTcar Racing Northeast promotional partner Dig Safely New York will be strapped in for the record-setting ride in the summer’s premier event for Big-Block Modifieds.

Dig Safely will carry a strong presence throughout the blockbuster weekend in Weedsport, holding naming rights for the B-Main on Sunday, July 19 that will provide a full purse in excess of $6,000 and offer to the top-two finishers an option of sharing that prize money or transferring into the headline All-Star 100 scheduled later that same evening.

“We’re looking forward to getting back out to Cayuga County during the weekend offering information from our booth, giving away t-shirts and joining in the victory lane presentations,” noted former Dig Safely New York Motorsports Consultant Larry Bishop, a driving force behind his company generating vital support of the DIRTcar circuit for more than a decade. “We’re hoping to get a few drivers over to our table to meet with fans, sign some autographs and pose for pictures.”

DSNY also remains a major player during Super DIRT Week, sponsoring the Rite Aid 200 Big-Block Modified last-chance qualifier plus Sportsman and Pro Stock consis, as well as halfway lap leader awards in 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock Championship races. Dig Safely also sponsors select race dates at DIRTcar NE charter members Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, Canandaigua Speedway and Cayuga County during the summer months.

“Encouraging safe digging practices is what we are all about and DIRTcar Racing has provided a valuable platform to market our program. DIRTcar is an industry leader in the racing that takes place on dirt and Dig Safely New York keeps ahead by offering assistance about what’s under that dirt. Avoiding hits to underground facilities can save money, prevent property damage and personal injuries … just like race teams observing safety rules and building safe race cars to keep them out in front and eliminate a costly hit in the point standings. Our slogan ‘Know What’s Below Call 811’ is something we hope people on both sides of the fence will stand by,” Bishop added.

Established in 1968, Dig Safely New York remains a not-for-profit group whose membership includes volunteers from over 1,300 underground facility owners comprised of utilities, municipalities and private operators. It serves all of New York State with the exception of New York City and Long Island.

The mission is simple — Prevent damages to underground facilities and protect the public through education and quality communication with excavators, underground facility operators and designers in an efficient, courteous and cost effective manner while complying with governing regulations. Free educational services relating to safe digging practices can be found by logging into www.digsafelynewyork.com or calling 1-800-962-7962 for the related information. Racing safe and Digging Safe are two areas that Dig Safely New York is proud to be associated with.

DIRTcar All-Star Weekend gets underway Friday, July 17 with Modified practice and title events for DIRTcar Street Stocks and CRSA (Capital Region Sprint Agency) 305 Sprints. Including a complete Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Series points program and DIRTcar Pro Late Model debut at The Port, the Saturday program is highlighted by a $3,000-to-win, 50-lap Super DIRTcar Series preliminary event, with all Big-Block qualifiers also contending in a unique ‘Exemption Dash’ offering a full purse. The weekend culminates Sunday with an Xcel 600 Modified Series special and the Dig Safely B-Main leading into the ‘All-Star 100’ finale that boasts a whopping $20,000 on top and $1,000 to take the green.
