While Super DIRTcar Series drivers will be chasing gator trophies at Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, Amy Holland has another prime objective in her event debut.

Learn.

The Fulton, NY, driver who primarily races a 358 Modified, is heading to Volusia Speedway Park for the first, piloting a car for Heinke-Baldwin Racing – teammates with Jimmy Phelps.

“I raced the Big Block two times last year, and we had a ton of fun,” Holland said. “So, we said we’re going to go down there and gain more seat time and experience in the car and just build more notes around the Big Block specifically.”

Holland’s first time in a Big Block was at Brewerton Speedway last August, finishing ninth. She drove the Heinke-Baldwin Racing team car, previously piloted by Max McLaughlin, with her No. 5H panels on the side. That’s the same car she’ll take to Florida next month to continue honing her skills.

“It’s a huge adjustment comparing it to the 358,” Holland said. “It’s definitely different hooking that to the ground, being smoother on the throttle, and being smoother on the car.”

She’ll have the Phelps’ veteran knowledge to lean on all week. He’s the 2022 DIRTcar Nationals Big Gator champion and won a race at Volusia in 2022.

“Jimmy is an amazing driver and person,” Holland said. “Someone who has a lot of experience in a Big Block traveling to Volusia. And he’s super approachable and personable. He’s a great person to bounce ideas off and very direct and forward with me. I’ve asked him different times at Brewerton for advice, and he’s helped me.

“That is assuring, knowing I have someone down there that’s going to help me as far as the track and setup.”

While Holland gains more knowledge driving a Big Block, the competition she’s facing is nothing new. She has two Modified wins at Brewerton, all coming against Super DIRTcar Series stars like Phelps, Tim Sears Jr., Darren Smith and Larry Wight.

And while she said it’s still a little intimidating, she knows they were once in her shoes.

“These guys that race the tour are unbelievable,” Holland said. “They do it for a living and have so much seat time traveling all over to different tracks. But everyone has to start somewhere, right? All of those guys started at one time, not having much experience.

“Obviously, it’s a little intimidating, but it’s nice knowing I race against some of those guys on a weekly basis.”

Holland will join the stars of the Super DIRTcar Series when the 2025 season kicks off at Volusia Speedway Park during Federated Auto Parts DIRTcar Nationals, Feb. 12-15. For tickets, CLICK HERE.
