When Georgetown Speedway returned to the Super DIRTcar Series schedule in 2025, no one was more excited than track General Manager Chad Cathell.

Now, he’ll welcome the Beasts of the Northeast to the track for the first time since 2008 on Saturday, Nov. 1, as part of Mid-Atlantic Championship weekend.

It’s a stop, Cathell said, that is important for the region.

“It’s been a long time since we’ve had the Super DIRTcar Series in this region,” Cathell said. “And the notoriety that the Series brings is second to none. We’ve got so many fans coming down that haven’t been here in years, and it’s just going to be a huge asset to our weekend here.”

Mid-Atlantic Championship weekend kicks off on Friday, Oct. 31, with a full night of racing before the Super DIRTcar Series kicks off November with a stop at the “First State” facility. The jam-packed weekend also finishes off Cathell’s first year as General Manager, which he said has gone better than expected.

“You couldn’t really ask for more,” Cathell said. “We’ve really truly only lost one event this year, which is remarkable for what all of racing’s gone through over the past few years. Overall, I just can’t be happier with the support that the racers have given, and the fans have given, and especially the trust that Ken Adams (part-owner of Georgetown) has given me to make this place go the way he envisions it.”

While the Super DIRTcar Series and racing action highlight the weekend, it isn’t the only activity fans can take part in. On Saturday, there will be a pumpkin-carving contest, bounce houses, face painting, and trick-or-treating through the pit area, since Friday is Halloween.

The extra activities are part of what Cathell said is the growth of Georgetown Speedway, building to an event that’s a staple on every race fan’s schedule.

“I want to grow this into something that’s right up there with Eastern States Weekend and Super DIRT Week,” Cathell said. “We want this to be a synonymous name with big events. We want all roads to Charlotte to come through Georgetown. We want everything to be a big event. A spectacle. Something that families put on their calendar every year. There’s a lot going on that we want to continue to build on year after year.”

That growth continues this weekend when a “Shower of Big Block Power” hits the track for the first time in 18 years. The entire management team at Georgetown is excited about the return of the Super DIRTcar Series and expects high-octane racing all weekend.

“Jamie Friesen is going to have a fast track with this place whipped up,” Cathell said. “We’ve added a lot of banking here. Two, three, four-wide racing is a spectacle on any given night, and I expect it to be the same for Friday and Saturday.”

The Super DIRTcar Series makes its final stop before the World of Outlaws World Finals at Georgetown Speedway in Georgetown, DE, on Saturday, Nov. 1, for the Delaware Diamond 75.
