Felix Roy couldn’t be more excited for his next Super DIRTcar Series opportunity.
After 10 races in four different states, the Napierville, QC driver gets the chance to battle in his home country against the best drivers in the Northeast.
The Beasts of the Northeast will make its first of five stops in Canada this season on Sunday, June 29, when it visits Cornwall Motor Speedway for the O’Canada 100.
It’s an event the 20-year-old driver circled on his calendar before the year started.
“It’s probably one of the tracks I do the best at, so I’m really excited to go back to Cornwall, “Roy said. “It’s a nice track, and I hope we can do good.”
While Roy has experience around the 1/4-mile track, that experience hasn’t come in a Big Block since the track runs DIRTcar 358 Modifieds on a weekly basis. He has three wins at the track, all of which occurred in 2023, and said he thinks he still has an advantage against some of his Series competitors.
“We’ve been there once, three years ago with a Big Block,” Roy said. “They only race [358 Modifieds] there, so it’s different, for sure. I know I probably have a home track advantage, even though it’s not my home track. I know the track. I know how it needs to be raced.
“I think it’s going to be good. We’re confident going in. I’ve won some big shows there, and we’ll try to capitalize on this one because it’s a f**king big show.”
Roy is amid his best Super DIRTcar Series season so far, entering the O’Canada 100 seventh in the Series standings, 98 points behind Alex Yankowski.
But even with four top 10s in six Super DIRTcar Series points-paying races, he said he wants better consistency. He’s still searching for his second Series top five after finishing second during Malta Massive Weekend at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in 2023.
“We’ve had a really good start to the season,” Roy said. “Only Big Diamond wasn’t good. We keep adding top 10s, but we just can’t get that top five. We have a ton of sixth-place finishes, and not just this year, particularly. We’ve only got one top-five run, which is a second.
“We’re aiming for that top five, but it’s not easy.”
That run at Albany-Saratoga two years ago is also one of the reasons he decided to race there weekly in 2025 behind the wheel of Big Block. Another reason was to gain more confidence behind the wheel.
While he’s still learning every week on the 4/10-mile track, Roy said he’s getting a better feel for the Big Block.
“I think we only have five starts at Albany-Saratoga, but I can already tell that it helps me,” Roy said. “When I sit in the Big Block, I’m way more comfortable. I know the car better and know how to drive it better. It definitely helps.”
Roy will bring that confidence to Canada when the Super DIRTcar Series kicks off a stretch of three races in five days, beginning with the O’Canada 100 at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday, June 29. Along with a $10,000 prize, a guaranteed starting spot at Super DIRT Week 53 is also up for grabs.
Then, the Series returns to the United States for a battle at Mohawk International Raceway on Monday, June 30, for the Summer Shootout 75.
A battle in the Finger Lakes finishes off the three-race stretch with a stop at Land of Legends Raceway for the Stars and Stripes Spectacular on Thursday, July 3.
