Big-Block Modified stars revved up for Pioneer Pole Buildings, Inc. ‘Dirty Jersey 2’

Super DIRTcar Series invades New Egypt Speedway Tuesday, June 17

NEW EGYPT, N.J. – June 6, 2014 – The best Big-Block Modified talent in the Northeast is slated to appear at New Egypt Speedway’s Pioneer Pole Buildings, Inc. ‘Dirty Jersey’ for the Super DIRTcar Series 60-lap race Tuesday, June 17 (rain date: June 18).

Super DIRTcar Series regulars like eight-time defending champion Brett Hearn and three-time champion Matt Sheppard will be battling Justin Haers, fresh off his first career series points race win, for the lead in series points. Last year’s Pioneer Pole Buildings, Inc. ‘Dirty Jersey’ winner Rick Laubach, along with fellow New Egypt star Billy Pauch, will be defending their home turf. A host of other talented racers from across the region will also be making the haul to the Garden State for the highly anticipated event, including World of Outlaws Late Model Series star and Big-Block Modified driver Tim McCreadie.

“Any time you can draw Billy Pauch and guys from his area to race, if you can be fortunate enough to beat them at the end of the day, it makes it a bigger feather in your cap because those guys are so good,” said McCreadie, who is looking forward to wheeling the Vinnie Salerno’s Four Star Transmissions No. 4* Teo-Pro car around the racy 7/16-mile oval. “The track races really good. You can race on the bottom, on the top. That’s all you ask for, to get tracks where you can pass. That way if you have a bad pill draw or a bad qualifying effort you can still get back into the race by driving through the field.”

The Watertown, N.Y., driver has had past success at New Egypt Speedway, finishing second to Alan Johnson in his last Super DIRTcar Series race there in 2003. Event co-promoter and Big-Block Modified driver Stewart Friesen, of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, also boasts a second-place finish at New Egypt Speedway.

“This is going to be a ‘must-see’ show of the summer,” Friesen anticipates of this year’s incarnation. “Our Super DIRTcar Series field last year was awesome. There was a mix of cars and talent racing together that night you only saw once all year, at that race.”

Friesen finished second to Rick Laubach in last year’s inaugural 60-lapper, and hopes to do one better this year driving the potent Tom Cullen-owned Westmoreland Golf Club No. 1WGC at New Egypt. The two-time NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week Syracuse 200 champion has already picked up one Super DIRTcar Series win this season at a non-points race at Volusia Speedway Park during DIRTcar Nationals presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

The second round of the Super DIRTcar Series features an increased purse, awarding $400 to start, as well as special prizes presented in remembrance of late racer and promoter Alex Friesen. The driver earning the final qualifying spot will take home $68 in recognition of Alex’s signature number, 68, when he raced. Additionally, Touch of Green Landscaping of Boyertown, Pa., will reward the Hard Charger Award recipient with a cash bonus of $268 in Alex Friesen’s memory. The race’s Hard Charger will also take home a complete set of bumpers and rubrails courtesy of Jimmy Wismer’s WizFab located in Upper Black Eddy, Pa.

Fan activities at New Egypt Speedway for ‘Dirty Jersey 2’ include the pre-race Tailgating Competition (four FREE grandstand passes to the winning setup), the Dietz & Watson Pre-Race Picnic, music, giveaways, fireworks, R/C racing, appearances by the ‘Dirty Girls’ and more.

Gates open at 4 p.m. for the pits and 5 p.m. for the grandstands. Hot laps are planned for 6:45 p.m. with racing at 7:15 p.m.

Admission is $29 (Adults), $24 (Seniors ages 65 and over and Military with ID), $12 (Students 12-15) and FREE for kids under 11 years old. Pit admission is $35 with no license required.

In the event of rain, the program will be moved in its entirety to Wednesday (June 18).

For more information about the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series, visit www.superdirtcarseries.com/.

Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified ‘Dirty Jersey’ Purse Structure (60 Laps): 1. $6,000; 2. $4,000; 3. $2,500; 4. $1,800; 5. $1,600; 6. $1,400; 7. $1,200; 8. $1,000; 9. $800; 10. $700; 11. $600; 12. $500; 13. $450; 14. $425; 15. $415; 16. $410; 17. $405; 18-30. $400.
