Leads all 20 laps to win UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit midday race

BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Feb. 24, 2012 — Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.

Alan Johnson was both on Friday afternoon at Volusia Speedway Park, where the veteran was awarded the pole position in the redraw for the feature and then survived a challenging track to record the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified victory at the 41st annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment.

Johnson Sweeps Big-Block Modified Opener at Volusia

Veteran wins first UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit feature since '07

BARBERVILLE, Fla. — Feb. 23, 2012 — Thursday was a dominant night for Danny Johnson; it just took a little longer to get over than he wanted.

“It seemed like a long race for me,” he said with a grin. “When you’re leading a race it seems like it takes forever to get over with. But when you’re in the back going to the front it seems like 30 laps goes in a hurry.”

The veteran from Rochester, N.Y., led all 30 laps to claim the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modifieds opener at the 41st annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment at Volusia Speedway Park.

Having driven Vinnie Salerno’s No. 4 Teo to victory in the 2010 season finale, McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., drove the Teo back to victory lane on Friday and ran down Sheppard in lapped traffic on Saturday to win his second 40-lap feature in as many nights, earning $6,000 for his effort.

Sheppard overtakes Decker for Super DIRTcar Series points lead heading into Saturday night's finale

CONCORD, N.C. — Nov. 4, 2011 — Tim McCreadie (top right) earned his second consecutive Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified triumph in Friday’s Lowes Foods World Finals presented by Tom’s Snacks, Coca-Cola and Nature’s Own at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, but Matt Sheppard vaulted into the point lead heading into Saturday night’s season finale. McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., passed Sheppard on lap 19 and led the final 22 laps to win Friday night’s Modified portion of the tripleheader event at the four-tenths-mile oval, banking $6,000 for his first Super DIRTcar Series triumph of the season.

Two red-flag periods, a bevy of cautions, and nearly 140-laps of work on his right-rear Hoosier tire would not stop Johnson from claiming the $20,000 top prize.

Wins pole positions for Big-Block Modified, 358-Modified events at Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Oct. 6, 2011 — Billy Decker dominated Super DIRT Week XL Time Trials on Thursday at the New York State Fairgrounds. He captured the pole position for the Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified SEF Small Engine Fuel 200 Presented by Ferris & Snapper just moments after winning the pole for the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series Nationwide Insurance 150. Decker, of Unadilla, N.Y., posted a lap around the Moody Mile in 29.927 seconds at 120.293 mph in his Big-Block Modified after already topping the 358-Modified field in 31.517 seconds at 114.220 mph. There were 61 cars attempting to qualify for the SEF Small Engine Fuel 200 Presented by Ferris & Snapper while 50 cars tried to capture one of the prized top six positions for the 358-Modified Nationwide Insurance 150.
