Matt Sheppard wins thriller at Mohawk International Raceway

Defending series champion battles track champion Billy Dunn to the finish


AKWESASNE, N. Y. – Saturday, September 15, 2013 – After a thrilling 100 laps, Matt Sheppard, of Waterloo, N. Y., claimed victory in the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series feature at Mohawk International Raceway.

Sheppard charged forward from his 11th starting position to crack the top-five by lapp 25. Soon enough, Sheppard was in second and challenging then-leader Billy Dunn for the top spot. Sheppard took the lead in lap 56, and the two swapped positions several times in an exciting battle to the finish.

“Me and Billy went at it for…I don’t know how many laps, but it seemed like a lot,” said Sheppard, the three-time defending Super DIRTcar Series Champion. “It was a lot of fun. All I know is we had a good car, we got up front.”

DIRTcar Northeast Series invade Mohawk International Raceway Sept. 13 and 14
Small block track champion Billy Dunn aiming for the win in the Super DIRTcar Series feature Saturday
AKWESASNE, N. Y. – In one of the final weekends before NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII, the four DIRTcar Northeast series are invading Mohawk International Raceway Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14. The DIRTcar 358-Modified Series and DIRTcar Pro Stock Series hit the track Friday night, followed by the Big-Block Modifieds of the Super DIRTcar Series and the DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Series Saturday night. 
Currently third in Super DIRTcar Series points, the northern New York local Billy Dunn is ready to challenge point leaders Brett Hearn, in first, and Matt Sheppard, in second. The Watertown, N. Y., driver has been competing weekly at Mohawk, claiming seven wins over the season and his second consecutive track champion there in the 358-Modified division.
“I couldn’t ask for a better season,” said Dunn. “It’s a little bit of a drive from Watertown every Friday, but I’m having a lot of fun racing there.”

DRUMMONDVILLE, QUEBEC – Saturday, September 7, 2013 – Events scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 7, at Autodrome Drummond have been canceled due to inclement weather. Super DIRTcar Series and DIRTcar Pro Stock Series races will not be rescheduled.

“Race Mania 9” at Autodrome Drummond features Super DIRTcar Series, 358-Modified Series, Pro Stock Series

Dale Planck hopes for another Drummond victory


WEEDSPORT, N. Y. – “Race Mania 9” is about to take over Autodrome Drummond, in Drummondville, Quebec, featuring three DIRTcar Northeast series. The weekend of racing kicks off Friday, Sept. 6, featuring the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series. The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series and DIRTcar Pro Stock Series take over the quarter-mile oval Saturday, Sept. 7.

In July, the trip to Autodrome Drummond spelled victory for Dale Planck in the Super DIRTcar Series and Steve Bernier in the Sportsman Modified Series. Last year’s 358-Modified Series champion, Dale Planck, of Homer, N. Y., is aiming to tackle Drummond in both a small block and a Big-Block Modified ride.

Super DIRTcar Series Stars & Stripes 100 at Rolling Wheels postponed due to inclement weather

Racing continues Tuesday, Oct. 8, opening NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week


ELBRIDGE, N. Y. – Monday, September 2, 2013 – Inclement weather forced postponement of Sunday’s Super DIRTcar Series race at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. The Labor Day Classic Stars & Stripes 100 will continue Tuesday, Oct. 8, after the conclusion of NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI “Early Bird” tech inspection at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.

Fans who purchased tickets for Sunday’s Stars & Stripes 100 can redeem their ticket stubs for entry to the October race. Competitors and teammates who purchased pit entry at Sunday’s race will also be able to enter Tuesday, Oct. 8, at no charge. Tickets will also be available for sale at the gate the night of the event. Adult general admission tickets will cost $20.
